Bridging the Gap
Research Phase
Questions
Who normally designs bridges?
Investigate one of the world's "landmark" bridges. Describe its design i.e. is it a suspension, beam or arch bridge? Explain what these terms mean.
How long did your chosen bridge take to build and how much did it cost?
Does your bridge have a "maximum load" capacity? If so, why and what is it?
How is load capacity calculated and designed for?
